Laser Cutting Tolerances in mm

Minimum Hole Size for material < 3mm |
<0.5 x material thickness |
Minimum Hole Size for material 3-6mm |
0.5 x material thickness |
Minimum Hole Size for material > 6mm |
1 x material thickness |
Precision tolerances may be improved with development, and are subject to feature geometry, material type and thickness.

Design Considerations
A hole cut with a laser has an entry diameter minimally larger than the exit diameter, creating a slightly tapered hole.
The minumum internal radius for slot corners is 0.2mm. Unlike stamping, the normal design rules regarding minimum wall thickness, minimum hole size (as a percentage of material thickness) do not apply. The minimum hole sizes can be as low as 20% of material thickness, with a minimum of 0.25mm for up to 1.9mm material.
Burrs are virtually eliminated and are insignificant when compared to those produced by shearing or blanking.
